3rd Down: Next game in a tough stretch

This block of games the Patriots are in currently will be the most difficult stretch of the season for the team. All five of these games are against teams that can/will make the playoffs and that all lead their respective divisions. First off was against the Ravens two weeks ago, and we all know now that the New England Patriots didn’t fare well in that game.

Next up is Philadelphia, and it should be a good game. Quarterback Carson Wentz is having a decent season thus far with 2,060 passing yards and 15 touchdowns. Running back Jordan Howard leads the team with 525 yards and six touchdowns, though he’s inactive today with a shoulder injury. Zach Ertz is one of the NFL’s best tight ends, and he is having another great season so far with 46 catches for 527 yards and two touchdowns in 2019.

The defense of the Eagles is strong as well, despite ranking 19th in points (23) and 16th in passing yards (239). They are giving up an average of 326 yards total on defense, but they are a top-five run defense on the year, giving up just under 90 yards per game.

Certainly this will be another tough test for the New England Patriots.
