1st Down: Hit the reset button

A reset button is a wonderful tool, isn’t it?

The New England Patriots suffered their ugliest loss since last season when the Baltimore Ravens ran all over them and beat them 37-20. This loss exposed Bill Belichick’s defense, as they couldn’t stop the run and couldn’t get off the field when they needed to. As a result, their offense couldn’t get going and didn’t have nearly enough time to put points up on the board and equalize the game.

There is a bright side to this though, and it’s the fact they had their toughest loss in nearly a year right before the bye week. It’s great timing for a team that rolled through the first eight games of the season before running into a brick wall.

The New England Patriots had an extra week to rest up, get even more healthy, incorporate newer players into the mix, prepare for the Eagles, and patch up any holes that may have been opened by the Ravens. With a rough stretch of games coming up, the bye week came at a great time for the Patriots, and they now hit the reset button and set their eyes on the rest of the season and the playoffs.
