New England Patriots 4 Down Review: Week 9 @ Baltimore Ravens
3rd Down: Quiet the crowd early
The New England Patriots defense had an opportunity to get a moral victory on the first drive of the game by holding the Ravens to 3 points rather than the 7 points they eventually put on the board. On the goal line, they stopped them on 3rd down and on the field goal attempt, the defensive line jumped offsides giving the Ravens a new set of downs to put the ball in the endzone. This is a mistake that teams make against the Patriots but in this case, it was New England making the costly error that gave Baltimore a chance of to score a touchdown.
The first drive for the offense didn’t go as planned either which has been typical for the offense the last number of weeks. They gained 0 yards on 3 plays and only held the ball for only 24 seconds. Certainly not the way New England needed to start the game as they punted on their next possession and then the defense ended up giving up 10 more points to end the horrendous 1st quarter.
