Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are all set to take on Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns today. Here’s how you can watch the game online!

Believe it or not, the Cleveland Browns actually have the advantage over the New England Patriots.

Well, maybe not today they don’t. But historically-speaking, yes they do…

The Browns lead the all-time series against the Patriots 12-11 across 23 regular season meetings from 1971 to 2016. They also lead the postseason series1-0, thanks to a Wild Card win over New England following the 1994 season. Coincidentally, Cleveland’s head coach in that contest was none other than Bill Belichick.

That date also represents the last time the Browns won a playoff game.

It’s been almost a quarter of a century since that point, and in all that time, Cleveland has made it back to the postseason only once. For the Browns to reverse their fortunes and rewrite the prevailing narrative around their team as being perpetual cellar-dwellers, they’ll need to start stringing together some wins in a hurry.

It might be difficult to get going down that road this particular week, however, as the Browns travel to Foxborough to take on the defending Super Bowl champions. The Patriots haven’t lost at home since they fell to the Panthers in Week 4 of the 2017 season on a last-second Graham Gano field goal as time expired.

Since that loss to Carolina, New England has outscored their competition 503-223 at Gillette Stadium during the regular season – and nearly 20% of that point total they’ve allowed came in one single game last year (the shootout win over Kansas City).

The Patriots defense this year is already on a historic pace, and could end up rivaling the 2000 Baltimore Ravens and the 1985 Chicago Bears for the title of best defense in NFL history when all is said and done. New England obviously has a long way to go still – and the competition should get a lot stronger over the next six games – but the Pats are well-equipped to handle the Browns at home today from a defensive standpoint.

The real question for New England is how well their offense will play.

The Pats are a top-10 scoring offense in the NFL currently, but anyone who knows this team well under coordinator Josh McDaniels can sense that they still have work to do in ironing out some kinks. The offensive line has been uncharacteristically prone to breakdowns in pass protection and run blocking, the run game itself hasn’t really gotten going, and the overall level of talent at both tight end and wide receiver leaves a lot to be desired.

That all being said, the Pats are still undoubtedly thrilled to be sitting at 7-0 on the season. If they take care of business on both sides of the ball and avoid making any crucial or clumsy mistakes against a rested Browns team that should be fresh and well-prepared coming out of their bye, New England should come out of today with a perfect record at the midway point of the year.

Next. Theories about Tom Brady leaving in 2020 don't make sense. dark

Keep an eye on Myles Garrett whenever No. 95 takes the field. Browns defensive coordinator Steve Wilks loves to move the former No. 1 overall draft pick all around Cleveland’s formation, which could present plenty of challenges for the Patriots’ pair of starting offensive tackles in Marcus Cannon and Marshall Newhouse.

How well the New England O-line holds up against Garrett and Cleveland’s pass rush will certainly impact the outcome of this game.
