3rd Down: Keep rolling on defense

For the last few weeks, the New England Patriots offense has struggled immensely. It has been the stellar play of the defense that has kept their record at a perfect 6-0. The Patriots defense is just dominating opposing offenses, and ranks in the NFL’s top-three in yards allowed, points allowed, passing yards allowed, and rushing yards allowed.

Jamie Collins has been playing much better now than he did in his first stint with the New England Patriots. Stephon Gilmore and Devin McCourty have helped solidify the secondary, making it one of the best units in the NFL bar-none. Kyle Van Noy, along with the rest of his “Boogeymen” linebacker group, have been a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks all season long. Rookie Chase Winovich has been a ball-hawk when he hits the field, and has made the most of his limited snaps and playing opportunities through six games this season.

All of these players and more are a huge reason why this defense is on a historic pace to become one of the best this league has potentially ever seen.
