Of the remaining 10 opponents left on New England’s schedule, which offenses represent the greatest threat to this mighty Patriots defense?

New England‘s defense has been nothing short of sensational through the first six weeks of the season. Critics can point to the soft schedule all they want, but when you’re allowing just eight points per game in today’s NFL, you’re doing something right.

On top of that, the Patriots are also currently the No. 4 defense in terms of yards allowed on the season – despite the fact that they’ve already played one more game than the No. 2 defense (Buffalo Bills), and the fact that they’ve played two more games than the No. 1 (San Francisco 49ers) and No. 3 defenses (New York Jets).

New England now enters a “mini bye week” of sorts due to its having already played on Thursday Night Football. Players on the team aren’t due to return back to the facility until Tuesday, so the Pats should have a nice opportunity to rest up several injured players and get healthy before taking on the New York Jets in Week 7 next Sunday.

Of New England’s 10 remaining opponents left on their regular season schedule, three are currently winless… so logic suggests that the undefeated Patriots should be able to easily dispatch that trio of teams (New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins). The other seven teams on their schedule range anywhere from “pesky” to “formidable.”

But which of those teams could represent the biggest threat to this Patriots defense? While the New England offense needs to start getting out of its own way, the New England defense looks unstoppable through six weeks. Who could actually stand a chance of slowing them down this year?
