3rd Down: Quick start on offense

As previously stated, the short week could have had an adverse effect on the Patriots offense and been responsible for some of the slow start on the evening, but this problem has also been trending for the last few weeks now.

Despite a fast start on the first drive of the game, the New England Patriots were quickly stopped on a 4th and 1 in Giants territory. They had yet another 3 and out on the second drive, and then Brady threw an interception that was intended for Julian Edelman. They just couldn’t click on offense, and once again they didn’t score a single point in the first quarter.

Troubles continued when Brady was sacked, lost a fumble, and then the fumble was picked up and returned 42 yards for a touchdown by the Giants’ Markus Golden. Despite finishing the game strong, the offense struggled. The offensive line couldn’t block for Brady or for Michel, and the receivers dropped some passes.

It was a very inconsistent and sloppy showing for the New England Patriots. In the end, a win is a win though, and at least the defense and special teams picked up the offense… as they’ve been doing all season long.
