2nd Down: Is Sony Michel finally back?

Last week against the Redskins, running back Sony Michel seemed to have finally broken out of his early season funk. On 16 rush attempts, he ran for 91 yards and a touchdown, with his longest run of the afternoon being a 25-yarder.

This is certainly a good sign for the New England Patriots offense, one that has been missing his dominance in the running game through the first four weeks of the season. This could also be a bright spot for the offense again tonight, because the Giants defense ranks 23rd in the league, and are giving up an average of 130 yards per game.

On Sunday, Michel also saw some action receiving the ball, as he caught three passes for 32 yards. His longest reception of the day went for 15 yards.

If he can become a double threat out of the backfield, his stock as a valuable member of this New England offense (and as a fantasy football commodity… particularly for PPR leagues) can only go up from here. It is looking good for his production to trend up on Thursday night.
