The New England Patriots are all set to take on the Washington Redskins on the road in the nation’s capital today. Here’s how you can watch!

The New England Patriots head south today to take on the Washington Redskins in what could be one of the more lopsided games this season.

The Patriots are a perfect 4-0 at the quarter-mark of the season, buoyed by the stellar execution of individual players on both their efficient offense and their dominant defense. The Redskins, on the other hand, are still seeking their first victory of the year after an embarrassing 0-4 start.

There’s a very real chance that Washington head coach Jay Gruden won’t survive the 2019 season after being just 35-48-1 in his five-and-a-quarter seasons at the helm in D.C. Gruden has only had a finish better than third place in the NFC East once since he took over – way back in 2015, when his Redskins won the division, only to lose in the Wild Card round of the playoffs immediately.

Of course, the Patriots have occupied an enviable role at the opposite end of the football spectrum during Gruden’s tenure. Under the illustrious combination of head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, New England has made it to four Super Bowls since Gruden became the Redskins’ skipper – and the Patriots have won three of those four championships along the way.

For New England to secure another Lombardi Trophy, they’ll have to figure out how to get by without longtime kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

Gostkowski is headed to injured reserve after needing season-ending surgery on his left hip; in his place, the Pats will turn to veteran journeyman Mike Nugent to help them with all field goal and extra point attempts. The team also added former Los Angeles Chargers kicker Younghoe Koo to their practice squad as an emergency option.

Outside of special teams, the Patriots should enjoy a fifth-consecutive outstanding performance from their defense today. The Redskins have the second-worst rushing offense in the NFL, and their passing attack – led by Case Keenum and rookie Dwayne Haskins Jr. – has already turned the ball over nine times this season (two fumbles and seven interceptions).

Neither one of those quarterbacks is earning the start today, though… instead, Washington will turn to Colt McCoy to lead their offense. McCoy, in case you’ve forgotten, hasn’t played a snap in the NFL since his fibula was snapped last December.

Will the New England Patriots defense get a chance to capitalize on more Washington miscues today? Here’s how you can tune in to find out!

The Patriots will also seek to rebound offensively after a dismal performance on the road last week against a tough Buffalo Bills defense. Tom Brady, Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman, and company should have a significantly easier time combating the Redskins than they did the Bills.
