The New England Patriots hit the road to face the Buffalo Bills in Week 4 of the 2019 NFL season. Here’s all the information you need to watch the game.

The New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills will face-off for the 118th time in NFL history today. These two AFC East rivals have been duking it out ever since both clubs were founded way back in 1960 as part of the old American Football League.

Today, Bills-Patriots is one of the more lopsided “rivalries” in the modern NFL. Ever since the arrival of quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick, the Patriots have owned the series against their New York state neighbors. Brady is a sparkling 30-3 all-time versus the Bills… he has also won more games in Buffalo than any Bills quarterback since 2001.

That all being said, the Bills are undeniably a team on the rise under third-year head coach Sean McDermott. A former defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers, McDermott has installed a blue-collar, hard-nosed edge to Buffalo’s defensive identity, and the results have been impressive so far. The Bills routinely have ranked atop the NFL in many defensive categories since McDermott’s arrival – particularly in rushing defense.

That doesn’t bode well for the Patriots’ ground game, which has struggled to get going through three weeks of the season. New England as a team ranks 20th in the NFL in rushing offense, and much of the blame falls at the feet of second-year starting tailback Sony Michel – though the patchwork Patriots offensive line hasn’t done a great job of run-blocking for him, either.

Regardless, Brady and the New England Patriots passing attack have more than made up for the team’s inadequacies running the ball. The Patriots trail only reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in terms of total passing yards through three weeks of the season.

They’ll need to keep their foot on the gas in Buffalo. New England’s offense has started hot in all three games this season, but it has also faded a bit as the games wear on. They probably won’t have that luxury in a tough road environment today – especially not against an undefeated Bills team that will have a raucous home crowd behind them.

Buffalo has a steep challenge of their own, though, in terms of trying to score points against the Patriots’ top-ranked defense. Amazingly, New England has yet to allow a touchdown while on defense this season. It’s a mind-blowing stat that will surely be tested by second-year Bills QB Josh Allen and his talented pair of running backs, youngster Devin Singletary and the ageless Frank Gore.
