After a thorough dismantling of the Miami Dolphins on the road in Week 2, the New England Patriots now return home to face the New York Jets in the second of three straight early season AFC East matchups. The Patriots will travel to take on the Buffalo Bills one week from today.
Behind impressive individual performances from Stephon Gilmore, Jamie Collins, and Jonathan Jones, the Bill Belichick/Jerod Mayo-led New England defense has exceeded most fans’ expectations through two weeks of the season. Apart from a field goal surrendered to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Patriots have yet to allow any points to opposing offenses, keeping both the Steelers and the Dolphins out of the end zone.

The Jets will need Falk to play the game of his life against this stifling Patriots defense – particularly given the severe rash of injuries that have already taken a toll on New York’s roster. Expect Falk to lean early and lean often on do-it-all free agent addition Le’Veon Bell, who has impressed in the early going of 2019 so far.
For the Patriots, the team will seek to prove its offense is just as unstoppable without Antonio Brown as it was last week with him in the lineup. Brown was released by the team on Friday after new allegations against him surfaced; the embattled wide receiver is still under investigation by the NFL for multiple reports of sexual misconduct and assault.
Sans Brown, New England fans should expect to see more contributions from Josh Gordon and Julian Edelman in the passing game than the Patriots got from both players in Week 2 against the Dolphins. It also wouldn’t be surprising to see offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels continue to feed running back Sony Michel the ball on early downs as the team attempts to help Michel shake off some early-season malaise.
