Tom Brady and Patriots’ Twitter account riff on ‘Avengers’
Tom Brady and the New England Patriots’ official Twitter page had a fun back-and-forth over a photo of Brady wearing the Infinity Gauntlet from ‘Avengers.’
If you listen to Tom Brady during interviews with the media, it quickly becomes apparent that despite all the Patriots quarterback has accomplished in his Hall of Fame-caliber career, he remains as motivated as ever to keep winning football games and stockpiling championships.
Despite the fact that he now has more Super Bowl rings than he has fingers on one hand, Brady has repeatedly told reporters and talk show hosts that his favorite ring is “the next one.” Anyone who thinks the soon-to-be 42-year-old is resting on his laurels is gravely mistaken… he’s already got his sights set on a seventh Lombardi Trophy, which would break a tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl championships of any NFL franchise in history.
And yet, Brady isn’t an idiot. He must recognize deep down somewhere that he’s already done the unthinkable, and his legacy as the G.O.A.T. is long since secured. It’s presumably why he signed off on “The G.O.A.T. Edition” of the Madden video game that featured his likeness on the cover, and it’s also probably why he shared this photo on his Twitter feed Monday.

A smiling Brady proudly displays his right arm to the camera, which is completely encased in a replica version of Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet from Marvel’s ‘Avengers’ franchise. The caption below the image reads, “Think I’m gonna try a glove on my throwing hand this year,” with the ‘thinking’ emoji.
In the popular comic book series and blockbuster film adaptations, the galactic supervillain Thanos travels the universe acquiring six all-powerful Infinity Stones for his gauntlet, with the aim being that once he has all of them, he becomes nearly invincible and immortal.
The parallels between Thanos and Brady are unmistakable. Both have six rings to their name at the peak of their powers. Both are supreme deities within their respective worlds. And some would say – especially fans of the other 31 NFL franchises – that both are “big bad guys” in a maniacal quest for total domination.
Not wanting to be left out of the fun, the Patriots’ official Twitter account immediately jumped into the fray, posting a photoshopped version of Brady’s photo in which the Infinity Stones were all replaced by New England’s Super Bowl championship rings.

If all goes according to plan in 2019, both images will soon be obsolete. After all, there’s no room on that gauntlet for a seventh Infinity Stone or a seventh Super Bowl ring… and we all know that’s not going to stop Tom Brady from doing everything in his power to attain one anyway.
