Tom Brady has reportedly made various and continual attempts to provide Josh Gordon with the support system he needs to heal and get well.

Patriots fans were understandably excited to see video of Tom Brady and Josh Gordon working out together on their own time, playing a little game of catch one-on-one.

Apparently, it’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their relationship off the field.

According to a new report, Brady has supposedly gone to great lengths to make sure Gordon knows he’s not forgotten about, even as the troubled wide receiver is forced to stay away from the team while serving an indefinite NFL suspension for substance abuse. While there’s no immediate timetable for when Gordon could be reinstated, the terms of his contract state that when and if that day does come eventually, he’ll be back in New England.

The report shares that Brady has invited Gordon to family dinners in the past, as well as to other meaningful functions in order to better cultivate their relationship. The purpose behind all of Brady’s actions, at least according to the reporter, is to make Gordon “feel like he is at home” as he continues to battle his personal demons and addiction issues in his quest for better mental health.

"“(Tom Brady) recognized that Josh Gordon made the team better and recognized that he was going to need some attention,” ESPN’s Jeff Darlington suggests. “Josh Gordon was going out to dinner with Tom Brady and Gisele [Bundchen] at times because Tom recognized that he needs to bring this guy in, foster him, make him feel like he is at home, recognizing some of the issues that Josh Gordon goes through. While that is, in part, a guy just trying to get better, it’s also Tom Brady being a really good person, continuing to try to help out and manifest Josh Gordon. . . .Tom Brady, to this day, really respects Josh Gordon and would love to see him live a better life.”"

There is some speculation that the Patriots are cautiously optimistic Gordon will be reinstated before Week 1 of the upcoming 2019 season.

Obviously Gordon’s mental health is the first priority – for New England, for the NFL, and of course for Gordon himself – but if he feels like he’s ready to come back to football, it would understandably be a huge boon to the Patriots’ offense to have him back in the fold again.
