With the New England Patriots set to furnish one of the better secondaries in the NFL this year, who might end up leading the team in interceptions this season?

Without question, the New England Patriots feature one of the deepest, most talented secondaries in the entire NFL.

The cornerback depth chart is positively loaded. 2018 starters Stephon Gilmore and Jason McCourty have the outside spots locked down; both are savvy veterans with multiple years of experience starting in the NFL, and Gilmore has a legitimate case as the No. 1 cornerback in the league.

Rounding out the depth chart are Jonathan Jones and J.C. Jackson, a couple of formerly undrafted players who have carved out major minutes for themselves because of exemplary play. Then there’s also a pair of “rookies” with promise: Joejuan Williams was a second-round draft pick this year, and Duke Dawson was a second-round pick a year ago before spending most of the 2018 season on injured reserve.

Moral of the story? The Patriots’ battle at CB in training camp is going to be a sight to behold.

It’s a similar story at safety.

Devin McCourty is a team captain and a two-time Pro Bowler. Duron Harmon is a fan favorite with 15 interceptions spread out across six professional seasons. Patrick Chung has eight years’ experience playing with the Patriots (and 10 years total in the league). All three players should be considered “the cream of the crop” amongst their contemporaries around the NFL.

With the defense looking this promising – especially on the back-end – which players stand the best chance to lead New England in interceptions by season’s end?
