Rob Gronkowski a major presence at Billboard Music Awards
Rob Gronkowski may have retired from the Patriots and the NFL, but so far he is still very active in the limelight – and he just made waves at the BMAs.
It’s still early-on, but so far it would appear that the New England Patriots miss Rob Gronkowski a lot more than he misses them.
While fans are left to grapple with what the team plans on doing to replace his production at the tight end position (hint: Austin Seferian-Jenkins is not going to cut it), Gronkowski seems to be enjoying every bit of retired life. He and girlfriend Camille Kostek attended the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wedneday… and Gronkowski was heavily involved in many different aspects of the show.
First, the Patriots legend was asked on the red carpet whether he was truly retired or not. Admitting that he’s enjoying messing with people’s emotions and publicly waffling on the decision, Gronkowski took the opportunity to confirm just how well-rested and happy he is thus far now that he’s retired.
But in true Gronk form, he couldn’t just leave it at that. “You never know, if you mess around that much about it, I might convince myself (to come back), like you said,” Gronkowski threw in. It’s the exact kind of sound byte you just know thousands of Patriots fans are going to cling to with a renewed hope and fervor that maybe – just maybe – he might be convinced down the line to return to the team.
Rob Gronkowski wasn’t just an attendee at the awards show, though. He also was a presenter, joining actor and comedian Terry Crews onstage to present the Top Rap Song category. Ever the goof-ball, Gronk used the opportunity to showcase some of his trademark silly dance moves alongside Crews for all the world to see.
And if all that weren’t enough, the 29-year-old even got a chance to brush up on his acting chops before a national TV audience. Dressed as a security guard, Gronkowski did a bit at one point during the show where he tried to kick out Kelly Clarkson and Crews – who just so happened to be sitting in seats supposedly belonging to the band Florida Georgia Line.
As you can probably guess, comedy ensued.
If all Gronkowski’s antics are a sign of things to come, then it looks like he’ll be just fine living that post-football life. His personality was always a major part of what made him so much fun to watch and such a household name, so it’s enjoyable to see that side of his character shining now that the athleticism and football side of things have taken a back seat.
