ATLANTA, GEORGIA – FEBRUARY 03: Jared Goff #16 of the Los Angeles Rams is knocked out of bounds by Jonathan Jones #31 of the New England Patriots during the second half during Super Bowl LIII at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 03, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. Jonathan Jones

Position: Cornerback

Overview: Jones is a restricted free agent who will stay in New England as long as the Patriots want to keep him. At various points of 2018, he was apparently out of the rotation: J.C. Jackson stepped in and wrested away a role, just as veteran Jason McCourty really began to come into his own as well.

Suddenly, in the AFC Championship Game Jones was back on the field and lined up opposite All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill against the Chiefs. Jones was spectacular in that contest in keeping Hill contained and shut down, and he should be back in the Patriots’ secondary this year.

Still, he will face stiff competition again from 2018 draft picks Duke Dawson and Keion Crossen this offseason.

Expected Cost: One year tender at $2.025 million.
