With a huge need at wide receiver, how will the Patriots add more talent to the team as they tackle the 2019 offseason and prepare for next year?

Heading into the 2019 offseason, it is readily apparent that the Patriots need to make some sizable moves in order to contend for their seventh Super Bowl title. Though the team overcame expectations and largely out-performed their talent level on paper in 2018 – making it as far as the Super Bowl, which they won – most fans and analysts would agree that New England has their work cut out for them if they hope to repeat in 2019.

Particularly with Tom Brady turning 42 this August, after having stated on record numerous times that he plans on retiring around the age of 45, it’s clear that the Patriots’ Super Bowl window is indeed closing fast – at least the window with Brady still at the helm as quarterback. Whether or not Bill Belichick outlasts Brady as head coach of the team is also little more than a matter of speculation and conjecture as of now.

The Patriots have a couple of different avenues worth exploring as they seek to reload and restock this offseason, particularly at the paper-thin wide receiver position. Beyond Super Bowl 53 MVP Julian Edelman, the team does not have a whole lot of current options at wideout. A number of Patriots receivers in 2018 will probably not be with the team next season, so it’s high time to start examining paths forward for New England when it comes to the guys catching balls from Brady.
