Tom Brady used Instagram on Wednesday to personally thank Alex Guerrero for all the physical health and wellness trainer has helped him to achieve.

On Tuesday, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady used Instagram to announce to the world that he was already focused on winning a seventh Super Bowl ring. On Wednesday, he gave thanks to the man who makes such incredible goals and expectations even possible in the first place.

Trainer and health practitioner Alex Guerrero has come under fire and public scrutiny over the past 15 years for some of his alternative medicine practices, diet claims, and nutritional supplement sales, but that hasn’t stopped him from frequently collaborating with Brady on a number of projects. Besides being Brady’s most trusted physical and massage therapist, he also treats or has treated a number of other prominent Patriots players over the years.

Guerrero is perhaps best known for his work with Brady in the TB12 health and fitness brand ventures, including the TB12 Sports Therapy Center at Gillette Stadium, The TB12 Method book, and the TB12Sports.com website.

He is also well-known for the reported friction between him and a number of Patriots trainers and staff – including Bill Belichick supposedly – during the 2017 season. The drama culminated with Guerrero getting banned from many team facilities and being stripped of game-time privileges and access to players besides Brady.

Nevertheless, Brady swears by Guerrero, and he’s not afraid to defend his personal health guru in public or accredit him for his on-field success and longevity. Such was the case Wednesday in Brady’s Instagram post, where he thanked Guerrero “for his hard work and commitment to helping me become the best I could be.”

In the post, a smiling Brady holds up six fingers to represent the six titles he’s now won with the Patriots, one arm draped around Guerrero’s shoulder. It appears the photo was taken in the New England locker room just after the team defeated the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 53.

The 41-year-old quarterback swears he wants to play at least another four years, and is counting on Guerrero’s methods to help him do just that.

“Can’t wait to get back to work toward number 7!!! We didn’t come this far to only come this far,” Brady added at the end of the post, before adding a ‘winking’ emoji, tagging TB12Sports, and signing off with the hashtag “#keepgoing”.

Whatever you may think of Guerrero and his unconventional beliefs and practices, it’s hard to deny the success that he’s had in keeping Brady healthy and performing at peak condition, year after year, in the brutally-physical NFL. Most professional football players don’t last more than two to three years before an injury or other limitation derails their career.

What Brady has been able to accomplish across 19 years may never be replicated again, so in that sense at least, both he and Guerrero are worthy of our deep respect and admiration.
