Duron Harmon and Devin McCourty made sure to let the Eagles’ Lane Johnson know they were having plenty of fun during the Patriots’ Super Bowl parade.

The NFL knew that it needed to loosen up after players and fans started referring to it as the “No Fun League.” Accordingly, the league relaxed certain rules and restrictions around touchdown celebrations, end zone dances, etc.

And while these changes were largely applauded by those same players and fans, one member of the NFL fraternity remained convinced that at least one team still wasn’t having any fun.

“I just think that The Patriot Way is a fear-based organization,” guard Lane Johnson told Barstool Sports last February, just days after his Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LII. “Obviously, do they win? Hell yes, they win. They’ve won for a long time. Do I think people enjoy and can say, ‘I had a lot of fun playing there’? No, I don’t. That’s just the God’s honest truth.”

Johnson’s blunt assessment of the Patriots franchise he’d just beaten in the championship game was simultaneously praised and decried. Some former New England players – Danny Amendola, for one – seemed to echo his hot take, while others (particularly current players) immediately disavowed his words as an uninformed and incorrect opinion.

Now, one year later, the Patriots are World Champions once again, having vanquished the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII… and Johnson’s words are apparently still fresh in the minds of some Patriots players.

New England defensive backs Duron Harmon and Devin McCourty teamed up on Harmon’s Instagram account to call out Johnson by name during Tuesday’s victory parade through the streets of Boston. Just as Johnson didn’t hold anything back a year ago, Harmon and McCourty made sure to let it rip this time around.

“Somebody said it wasn’t fun to play in New England,” McCourty begins. Harmon immediately chimes in, “Oh: Lane Johnson… when you go to four Super Bowls in six years, that’s fun baby.” McCourty then asks Harmon, “How many rings you got?” Harmon smiles and answers, “I got three rings!”

Many members of the Patriots were spotted seemingly having fun (*GASP*) this season, including defensive end Deatrich Wise dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” during a practice before the AFC Championship Game:

Next. Which Patriots should be released and which should be retained this offseason?. dark

We’re not sure where Johnson is getting his insider information from, but perhaps it’s a good idea the Eagles guard checks his sources in the future before speaking out negatively on other teams.
