When the clock reads 00:00 at the end of the fourth quarter in Super Bowl LIII, somewhere around 10:30 pm EST probably, take a real good look at the scoreboard. If it shows New England ahead of Los Angeles, then keep your eye on Patriots quarterback Tom Brady as he navigates toward the podium through a mob of human beings out on the field.

There’s a reason Brady has the best Super Bowl MVP odds of any of the 106 players competing out there. He’s done it before, capturing MVP hardware at Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, XLIX, and LI. That’s the most Super Bowl MVP awards ever – one more than Brady’s boyhood idol, Joe Montana, won with the San Francisco 49ers.

A sixth Super Bowl championship for Tom Terrific would probably – probably – coincide with a fifth Super Bowl MVP award as well. Quite simply, quarterback is the most difficult position to play in all of American team sports. Playing it at the highest possible level in the National Football League is hard, and playing it at the highest possible stage of difficulty in a Super Bowl is borderline superhuman.

For all these reasons and more, it’s obvious that Tom Brady will most likely be named Super Bowl MVP… assuming the New England Patriots take care of business and win the game first, of course.
