Julian Edelman had three separate fines assessed to him for unnecessary roughness incidents during last weekend’s Patriots/Bills game.

The NFL came down hard on star Patriots receiver Julian Edelman for three separate incidents he was involved in during New England’s 24-12 win over the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Edelman was fined a total of $63,504 for two illegal crack-back blocks and for blocking a Bills safety after signaling for a fair catch during a punt return. The crack-back blocks cost him $26,739 a piece, while the block during the fair catch cost him $10,026.

Edelman, of course, has the option of appealing the fines in the hopes of having them either reduced or vacated altogether.

Despite missing the first four games of the season to serve a PED suspension, Edelman has come on strong of late, particularly with Josh Gordon now no longer with the team. Gordon was previously the Patriots’ leading receiver, but Edelman has since supplanted him.

Through 11 games of play, Edelman has 69 receptions for 781 yards and five touchdowns. That touchdown total is already the third-highest mark in his nine-year career; an impressive feat given the fact he missed a full quarter of the season.

He has seen at least 10 targets from Tom Brady in three straight games, and has finished with at least 70 yards receiving in each of them. If he can put up a similar performance against the Jets’ depleted secondary on Sunday, Edelman stands a real chance of setting a new career high for himself in scores.
