In the win over the New York Jets, Sony Michel had a great game for the New England Patriots.
The New England Patriots were able to head down to MetLife Stadium in Week 12 and handle their business against the New York Jets.
Coming into Week 12, this may have been the healthiest that we have seen the Patriots all season. While Tom Brady was listed as questionable heading into the game, the Patriots had pretty much everyone out there against the Jets.
Even though the Jets played the Patriots tough in the first half, the Patriots were able to pull away in the second half. One of the reasons why the Patriots were able to have a 14-point win was because of Sony Michel.
The first round pick of the Patriots has had a good season despite battling some knee issues. While Michel did have a scary moment in the Jets game when he was bent awkwardly backward, he ended up having his best game of the season.
In the win, Michel totaled 133 rushing yards, which is a new career-high. In addition to the great game on the ground, Michel also was able to find the end zone for the Patriots.
So far this season, it has become apparent that when Michel plays well, the Patriots win. In four games when Michel has totaled at least 90 rushing yards on the ground, the Patriots have won all four games. Those games include wins over the Kansas City Chiefs and the Indianapolis Colts, who are playing some good football this season.
Having Michel in the backfield has provided the Patriots with a great balance on offense. Being able to run an effective play-action attack makes things a lot easier for the offense, and that has been on display for the Patriots with Michel healthy.
As we head toward the playoffs, having an effective running game led by Michel will be a great luxury for the Patriots. With potential matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, keeping their offenses off the field is something that the Patriots will likely want. Having a strong running game will certainly help them achieve that.
