The New England Patriots will look to right the ship in Week 12 when they travel to take on the New York Jets.

The New England Patriots headed into the bye week on a low note. The Patriots were dominated in Week 10 by the Tennessee Titans, getting blown out 34-10. They will now look to bounce back in Week 12 against their AFC East rival, New York Jets.

Like New England, New York headed into their Week 11 bye off an embarrassing loss. The Jets were blown out by the Buffalo Bills in Week 10, losing 41-10. At this point in time, Jets’ head coach Todd Bowles is probably coaching for his job.

Normally, you would say that would be a motivating factor for a team, but it is fair to ask if that will get the Jets going. After how they performed against the Bills, it would not surprise anyone if the Jets didn’t win a game the remainder of the season; that is how poor they looked.

The Jets will once again be dealing with some injuries. Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold will be sidelined for the second consecutive game, meaning Josh McCown will be under center. Marcus May and James Carpenter, the starting safety and offensive guard, are both expected to be sidelined as well.

While the Jets are dealing with a number of injuries, the Patriots are relatively healthy coming out of the bye. The only player listed out prior to the game is tight end, Dwayne Allen. There were six other players listed on the injury report, but there were no downgrades on Saturday, which means New England could be closing in on being full strength.

Right guard Shaq Mason and tight end Rob Gronkowski, who have both been sidelined recently, should both be in the lineup against the Jets.

Betting Odds

It should be no surprise that the Patriots are coming into this game as pretty big favorites. That number has continued to grow since the opening numbers were released. New England is 2-3 against the spread on the road, while the Jets are 2-3 at home against the number. The Jets have not covered a spread since Oct. 14 against the Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots had a three-game ATS winning streak snapped in their last game against the Titans.

Point Spread: Patriots -10.5

Moneyline: Patriots -450 up to -600, Bills +375 up to +430

Over/Under: 46 or 46.5

Prediction

With both teams coming off bye week, they should have had time to recover and add to their game plans. Given the state of the two teams, that will benefit one more than the other, with that one being the Patriots.

New England is motivated to get things back on track after their embarrassing loss to the Titans, and the Jets haven’t provided any reason to believe they’ll put up much of a fight. New England should handle business before returning home for a big matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.
