New England Patriots handle their business against New York Jets
By Nick Ziegler
In Week 12, the New England Patriots were able to get a win on the road against the New York Jets.
Coming into Week 12, the New England Patriots were in need of a road win. While the Jets were not playing well, winning a divisional road game can always be a bit tricky.
The Jets certainly did come to play on Sunday, as they were tied with the Patriots at the half. Considering what the Jets did in Week 10 against the Buffalo Bills, it was expected that they would come out with a bit of fire.
In the win, the Patriots’ offense certainly looked much better than they did in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. Fortunately for the Patriots, they were at pretty much full strength against the Jets, and it showed.
Tom Brady was able to have a strong game on the road, as he totaled 283 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Brady did a nice job spreading the ball around, as Josh Gordon led the team in receptions with five.
Despite dealing with a lot of injuries this year, Rob Gronkowski had a solid game, as he totaled three receptions, 56 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown. Gronkowski certainly looked a lot healthier than he did the last time we saw him, and that is a great sign for the Patriots.
On the ground, the Patriots really ran the ball effectively, as Sony Michel had a big game. Michel totaled 133 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. In addition to Michel, James White also totaled 73 rushing yards.
The balance of the Patriots’ offense makes them a really tough team to try and stop. Seeing this unit at full strength was a good sign for the team moving forward, as they will have some tough opponents in the playoffs this season.
Even though it was just a win against the Jets, a 14-point win on the road is a good victory. Next up for the Patriots will be their return home for a matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
