Recent Patriots rumors are that Josh McDaniels could be on the Green Bay Packers radar as a potential head coach next season.

With the New England Patriots on their bye week, recent Patriots rumors have been about their offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels.

McDaniels is one of the best offensive coordinators in the NFL, which results in him being considered for coaching positions nearly every offseason. Last year, McDaniels agreed to become the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

However, despite the Colts officially announcing him as their head coach, McDaniels backed out before his introductory press conference. Despite shunning the Colts, McDaniels will likely once again be sought after by teams this offseason to become a head coach.

Recently, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated talked about the possibility of McDaniels heading to the Green Bay Packers if the team decided to fire Mike McCarthy.

With the Packers coming off another loss, the playoffs are becoming an increasingly unlikely scenario this season. While Aaron Rodgers is certainly capable of winning out, the Packers are not in a good position as of now.

While McCarthy has won a Super Bowl with the Packers, change seems to be inevitable if they don’t make the playoffs this season. For McDaniels, the Packers job would likely be an appealing one.

Having a cornerstone player in Aaron Rodgers should certainly raise the eyebrows of a lot of potential coaches if the Packers job does become available. Finding a franchise quarterback in the NFL is not an easy thing to do, and having one already in place is a luxury that many coaches coming to a new team do not have.

Since McDaniels has had a ton of success with Tom Brady over the years, Rodgers would likely welcome him and his system to Green Bay. We will have to wait and see if the job does become available this offseason. However, it would certainly be an appealing one for McDaniels if it does.
