Patriots Rumors: Sony Michel, Eric Rowe unlikely for Monday
By Nick Ziegler
Recent Patriots rumors are that Sony Michel and Eric Rowe are unlikely for Monday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
As we head toward Monday Night Football, recent Patriots rumors have been about the status of a few key players.
While the Patriots did get a big win over the Chicago Bears in Week 7, they suffered what looked like a scary injury to their rookie running back, Sony Michel. On the play, Michel was twisted around very awkwardly and actually fumbled due to the pain you could viably see him in.
The good news is that Michel avoided what could have been a major injury, and he is being considered week-to-week In addition to Michel being unlikely for the game against the Bills, cornerback, Eric Rowe, is also unlikely to play against the Bills according to NESN.com
For the Patriots, replacing Michel’s production will not be easy. During the winning streak, Michel has played very well for New England, and now they will be relying on Kenjon Barner and James White.
White has played really well for the Patriots, but that has been mostly as a receiver out of the backfield. Now, White might be asked to run the ball a bit more with Michel out. However, Barner did see a good amount of action last week, and could once again on Monday night. With a lopsided game expected, Michel could easily see double-digit carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots have unfortunately become accustomed to playing without Rowe so far this season. Rowe has already missed three games for the Patriots this season, and it looks like he will be missing his fourth on Monday.
While these two players are unlikely, the Patriots did have Rob Gronkowski, Trent Brown, and Dont’a Hightower all limited at practice. With four straight wins, the Patriots will be in a good position to make it five straight on Monday night against the Bills.
