4.) Others stepped up

So far in the 2018 NFL season the New England Patriots have had most of their top weapons play well (aside from the 2 losses). However, there are going to be games where these top targets will not play well due to tough and physical defenses. When that happens, the next tier of weapons in Brady’s arsenal will have their numbers called. These names include Josh Gordon, Chris Hogan, Cordarelle Patterson and Phillip Dorsett.

Sunday night, Gordon and Hogan got into the mix quite a bit for the New England Patriots. Right off the bat, Gordon opened the game with first down catch. He ended the game with 5 catches for 42 yards.

A more positive sign for Gordon is that he is gaining the trust from Brady because there were a few times when Brady utilized his talents and forced the ball deep down field to him. He did not get a catch on those routes but he drew a pass interference penalty which is just as good for him. As for Hogan, he finally woke up last night catching 4 passes for 78 yards. He came in clutch towards the end of the game by catching 2 passes to help setup the New England Patriots win.
