1.) Defense struggles

The New England Patriots struggled at times last week against the Indianapolis Colts. On Sunday night they were going up against probably the most dynamic offense they were going to see all season. Mahomes along with Tyreek Hill, Kareem Hunt and Travis Kelce presented a big problem for the New England Patriots defense.

In the first half, you would not know how tough the Chiefs offense is because the New England Patriots held them to just 9 points. Also during the first half, Dont’a Hightower picked off a Mahomes pass that led to a touchdown for the home team. Also through the first half, the defense applied pressure on the young quarterback. It also seemed like Bill Belichick’s defense got into the head of Mahomes by standing up their defensive lineman acting like they were going to blitz but then dropped them into coverage. This tactic worked, for the time being until the 2nd half.

The New England Patriots defense did not play very well in the second half as they had a tough time keeping Mahomes in the pocket and they could not contain Hill. Hill recorded 7 catches for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns. His longest touchdown reception was 75 yards late in the game. To go along with that, the New England Patriots defense gave up 31 points to Kansas City.

All in all, despite the New England Patriots winning the game, the defense did not play well at all Sunday night. Even though the offense in Kansas City is pretty good.
