New England Patriots: 4 Takeaways from victory over Indianapolis Colts
4. Gronk makes positive strides
New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has not been as dominant as he has been in season’s past at least for the first 4 games this season. He left last week’s game with an ankle injury and was on the injury report for most of the week. Yet, on Thursday night he was suited up and ready to play against the Colts who he has lit up in past games. However, whether it was the ankle or if he was just being used as a decoy, Gronkowski was not much of a factor in the first half. In fact, it was White, Edelman and Michel who got a majority of plays on offense.
In the 3rd quarter was when Gronkowski broke out and how he did most of his damage on the simple seam route that Indianapolis could not stop. In the end, he finished the game with 6 catches for 75 yards and averaged 12 yards per catch. Certainly not eye popping stats but considering how he has played for most of the New England Patriots season, this was a positive sign.
