The New England Patriots look to bounce back in Week 4 as they return home to Gillette Stadium to face off with the Miami Dolphins.

The New England Patriots are off to an uncharacteristic 1-2 start. After defeating the Houston Texans in Week 1, the Patriots have lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions on the road. Now, they will be returning home to face off with the surprising, 3-0 Miami Dolphins.

Facing off with an AFC East rival is always a tall task. This time around, it will be even tougher as the Dolphins are playing some good football at the moment. While their competition hasn’t been overly difficult, they have still managed to win the games.

This is an important game for both teams. New England is looking to get things back on track and snap their losing streak. Their dominance over the AFC East has lasted the better part of two decades, but that could be in jeopardy if they are unable to defeat the Dolphins.

Miami, on the other hand, wants to keep their strong season going. Showing up, in Gillette Stadium nonetheless, would go a long way for their confidence this season. Taking on and playing up to the level of the Patriots is something rarely accomplished.

Injuries will be one key to this game. The Patriots had 11 players listed as questionable on their final injury report. Figuring out who will and will not be on the field is anyone’s guess. However, it is a step in the right direction for some players, such as Patrick Chung, Trey Flowers and Eric Rowe, three players who missed Week 3 against the Lions.

For Miami, their defensive line depth will be tested. William Hayes was lost for the season, suffering a torn ACL in Week 3. Andre Branch was also listed as out for this week’s matchup.

The Dolphins are one of the hottest teams currently in the NFL on the betting front. People are expecting them to continue that performance ATS in Week 4 as one of the more popular bets of the week. They were big underdogs when the line opened, but quickly dropped multiple points.. Here are odds courtesy of Odds Sharks.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Patriots -6.5/7
Moneyline: Patriots -265 up to -320, Dolphins +240 up to +255

Over/Under: 48.5 or 49

The Patriots are rarely in this position, but they need a victory. While this game only marks the quarter mark of the season, falling behind by three games in the division with a loss to the first place team is not ideal. It is a hole that the Patriots could climb out of, but they would prefer to not have to. New England gets back on track with a decisive victory over a Dolphins team that isn’t quite ready for the big time.
