As the New England Patriots prepare for their Week 2 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they are banged up at running back.

Despite the season being in its early stages, the New England Patriots have certainly had to deal with their fair share of injuries so far. While the Patriots were hit hard by injuries at wide receiver in training camp, they now have some issues at running back.

After missing the entire preseason, Sony Michel was out in Week 1 against the Houston Texans with a knee injury. In the win, the Patriots used a lot of Rex Burkhead as expected. Unfortunately for the Patriots, Burkhead’s backup, Jeremy Hill, suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the win.

Hill was a standout player for the Patriots in training camp and the preseason, as his strong play earned him a roster spot over Mike Gillislee. Sadly for Hill, his season was cut short due to the injury.

This week, it was announced that Burkhead suffered a concussion, and he hasn’t been a full participant in practice. Injuries have been an issue for Burkhead with the Patriots, as he missed a good amount of time for them last season.

As we head into Week 2 against the Jaguars, both Burkhead and Michel are listed as questionable. This isn’t ideal news for the Patriots, as they are fairly thin at running back after those two.

With the Jaguars having an elite defense, keeping them off balance with a good rushing attack would have been a nice thing for the Patriots. While the Patriots do still have a healthy James White on the roster, he isn’t the traditional runner like Burkhead and Michel.

Since both players are listed as questionable, we will likely hear whether or not Michel and or Burkhead will be able closer to game time. If both are out, the Patriots could be in trouble, as their rushing attack would be lacking.
