Pro Football Focus recently ranked the top offensive lines in the NFL after Week 1. Where did the New England Patriots rank?

Week 1 was not perfect for the New England Patriots, but there were a lot of positive takeaways from the win over the Houston Texans. While a seven-point win is never a bad thing, it certainly could have been more if not for some mistakes.

One of the reasons why the Patriots were able to win was because of the stellar performance from their offensive line. This offseason, one of the biggest question marks for the Patriots was at left tackle. The loss of Nate Solder left a void at the left tackle position, which is one of the most important positions on the line.

However, after Week 1, the Patriots’ offensive line looks like it’s going to be just fine. Trent Brown won the job rather quickly in training camp, and he performed well against the Texans. Considering that the Texans have two great pass-rushers in J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney, the offensive line as a whole did a great job protecting Tom Brady.

Recently, Pro Football Focus ranked all of the offensive lines in the NFL. For the Patriots, they came in ranked second behind only the Philadelphia Eagles.

Having the second-ranked offensive line after Week 1 is certainly encouraging for the Patriots. The addition of Brown for a third-round pick looks like an absolute steal now, as a good starting left tackle is worth a lot more than that.

While the Texans have some elite pass-rushers, the Patriots’ offensive line will be challenged in Week 2 once again against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and they will be trying to get after Tom Brady to force mistakes and turnovers.

After one week, the offensive line for the Patriots looks like it might be one of the top units in the league. If that continues, the Patriots will once again be poised for a good season.
