New England Patriots: Fantasy projection for Chris Hogan in Week 1
By Nick Ziegler
With Week 1 of the fantasy football season here, what can we expect from New England Patriots wide receiver, Chris Hogan?
The New England Patriots will be hosting the Houston Texans in Week 1 in one of the more appealing matchups for fantasy football owners. With one of the highest projected totals of the week, this should be a good game for many fantasy players.
Recently, we projected that Tom Brady would have a very nice game for fantasy football owners. Due to the suspension of Julian Edelman, the Patriots are going to have to have some other players step up for them.
At wide receiver, Chris Hogan will be taking over as the No.1 option at the position. When healthy, we have seen Hogan be a very good fantasy player with the Patriots, and he is healthy for Week 1.
Last season, Hogan only played in nine regular season games for the Patriots, but he was able to total five receiving touchdowns in those games. Hogan has always been a good deep threat for the Patriots, but he will likely be asked to do more with Edelman out.
Hogan was healthy against the Texans last season and had quite the game. In the win last season, Hogan totaled 4 receptions, 68 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. For fantasy players, getting two touchdowns out of Hogan likely resulted in a win.
While expecting five passing touchdowns from the Patriots again might be a bit far-fetched, the offense could easily score 30 points against the Texans. For Hogan, as the No.1 wide receiver for the first four weeks, he will likely be the secondary target behind Rob Gronkowski.
Hogan will certainly be in a position to have a nice game for fantasy owners in Week 1, as he should be targeted frequently by Brady.
