Recent Patriots rumors have been about the possibility of them signing wide receiver, Dez Bryant.

As we get closer to the start of the regular season for the New England Patriots, recent Patriots rumors have involved one of the biggest names left in free agency. This offseason, there has been a lot of speculation about where former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, Dez Bryant, will end up.

It wasn’t too long ago that Bryant was considered one of the top receivers in the league. However, those days are gone, and Dez is now trying to find a job. Even though he is still relatively young for the position, Bryant is still a free agent with the preseason right around the corner.

Due to the Patriots having a lot of issues at the wide receiver position, Bryant has been linked to the team. However, it doesn’t appear like the Patriots will be signing Bryant anytime soon. According to Mike Giardi, Bryant to the Patriots is unlikely at this point.

The Patriots not being all that interested in Bryant shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Over the past few seasons, there has been a noticeable decline in Bryant’s play. After totaling over 1,000 yards for three seasons straight, Bryant hasn’t reached that total in the last three seasons.

With the Cowboys last season, Bryant totaled 836 receiving yards, but had a catch percentage of just 52.3 percent. Considering he was targeted 132 times last year, his statistics weren’t all that great.

As of now, it doesn’t appear like anyone is knocking down Bryant’s door to sign him, as there shouldn’t be a rush for the Patriots to make a move. With his declining play and the potential drama he brings, Bryant just isn’t worth it at this point. Even though things look poor for the Patriots at wide receiver, they still have Tom Brady throwing the ball, and that will help elevate the groups level of play.
