Patriots Rumors: Rookie Isaiah Wynn suffers torn Achilles
By Nick Ziegler
Recent Patriots rumors are unfortunate news for the team, as Isaiah Wynn has reportedly torn his Achilles.
Shortly after a nice win against the Philadelphia Eagles in the preseason, recent Patriots rumors are not good for the team.
The preseason win against the Philadelphia Eagles was a rather impressive showing for the Patriots. In the win, the team looked very strong on both offense and defense. Tom Brady made his preseason debut, and looked like he was in mid-season form.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots were able to get a lot of pressure on the quarterback, which was something that they worked hard on improving this offseason. Even though it was just the second preseason game, it was a very encouraging step forward for the team.
Sadly, the Patriots suffered a big loss, as it has been reported that first round pick, Isaiah Wynn, suffered a torn Achilles.
Wynn was drafted to compete for the starting left tackle job for the Patriots. However, Trent Brown took hold of that position rather quickly, leaving Wynn playing elsewhere. One of the nice things about Wynn was that he was able to play multiple positions on the line.
Against the Eagles, Wynn was starting at right tackle for Marcus Cannon. While passing blocking on that side, Wynn was pushed back a bit blocking and came up lame after the play.
Even though losing a first round pick is never a good thing, the Patriots do still have depth on the offensive line. Assuming Marcus Cannon is healthy, he will be starting at right tackle. With Wynn going down, the Patriots do also have LaAdrian Waddle as their swing tackle.
For the rookie, this is certainly a sour start to his career, as an Achilles injury is a major deal. Hopefully, Wynn is able to have a quick and speedy recovery for and be able to contribute likely in 2019.
