New England Patriots 53-man 2018 Roster Projection v1.0: Quarterbacks
By Hal Bent
With the New England Patriots roster taking shape after the offseason, here is a how the team might look at the quarterback position.
The first round of NFL Free Agency and the NFL Draft are complete. Teams are in the middle of off-season workouts and soon the mandatory mini-camps will be taking place in Foxboro for the New England Patriots.
While the Patriots continue to bring in free agent players for visits and workouts (as free agents signed now do not count against the compensatory draft pick formula), even before the NFL Draft where the Patriots added nine drafted players and another nine rookie free agents. Other than the three draft picks in the first two rounds, these other fifteen rookies have an uphill battle for a roster spot in 2018.
Although probably much too early to do so with the players not even putting on pads yet at OTAs, let’s take a look position-by-position and come up with a 53-man roster based on the current roster. This 12-part series will look at each position projecting the starter(s), back-up(s), who are on the roster bubble (aka the “roster bubble boys”) and analysis of those players.
Disagree with the choices? Agree? Think I’m way off-base on these projections? Let me know in the comments at the bottom of the page or drop by on Twitter where you can find me at @HalBent01. I always enjoy talking about, analyzing and debating all things NFL and the New England Patriots, especially in the summer doldrums before training camp.
