One of the big losses for the New England Patriots this offseason was Danny Amendola leaving. With the Miami Dolphins, he is already receiving praise.

This offseason, the New England Patriots suffered a few notable losses in free agency. On the offensive side of the ball, one of those losses was Danny Amendola signing with the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins came in and offered Amendola a fairly lucrative contract, and despite his loyalty to the Patriots over the past few years, this was too good of an offer to pass up. While Amendola has never been an elite receiver for the Patriots, he was certainly a good one. However, the six million per year Amendola will be getting in Miami was too steep for the Patriots.

With Julian Edelman out last season, Amendola was able to have a good year for New England. In 2017, Amendola totaled 61 receptions, 659 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns in the regular season. Most importantly for New England, he was able to stay healthy by playing in 15 of the teams 16 games.

The Dolphins certainly brought in Amendola to help them on the field next season. However, Adam Gase recently praised Amendola’s leadership abilities. Here’s what Gase had to say on PFT Live via NESN.com

"“Any time you can get a guy who can not only produce for you but can be a great example for other guys in your locker room, he’s making other guys better,” Gase said. “He makes 24 other offensive guys better if they watch him work.”"

Getting a guy like Amendola is certainly good for the culture of the Dolphins. While he has been injured with the Patriots, he is a very effective when healthy. In the postseason, Amendola is arguably at his best, as Tom Brady and Amendola have had some great playoff memories together.

In the playoffs last season, Amendola totaled 26 receptions, 348 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns. Whenever Brady needed to make a play, Amendola always seemed to deliver, and that will be something that the Patriots miss.

For the Dolphins, adding a player like Amendola will help them in multiple ways. For a franchise that is chasing the Patriots, adding a player from them certainly helps.
