The New England Patriots have a hole on their left side of the offensive line, but their offensive line coach has a plan to fix it.

Coming into the 2018 season, one of the biggest question marks for the New England Patriots will be at the left tackle position. This offseason, the Patriots lost left tackle Nate Solder in free agency to the New York Giants.

After a nice career with Patriots, Solder was paid very handsomely by the Giants in free agency, as they desperately needed a left tackle. However, as the blindside protector for Tom Brady, replacing Solder will not be easy.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Patriots selected left tackle Antonio Garcia in the third round. Unfortunately, Garcia was never able to play last season due to blood clots in his lungs. Recently, Garcia was released by the Patriots and picked up by the New York Jets.

With Garcia no longer being an option for the Patriots at left tackle, they will now be turning to two other players. According to Dante Scarnecchia, the Patriots will be giving rookie Isaiah Wynn and recently acquired Trent Brown the first chances at left tackle.

As one of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL, Scarnecchia is no stranger to getting players to improve and move positions. While Marcus Cannon was thought to be a potential candidate to slide over to the left side, it appears that the Patriots want to keep on the right side, where he has excelled.

Prior to being traded to the Patriots, Brown was a right tackle for the 49ers, so he will have to work hard to try and make the switch. For Wynn, he did play left tackle at Georgia and might have a good chance to win the job as a rookie.

As the summer approaches, the battle between Wynn and Brown will certainly be one of the camp battles to watch. If one player is able to separate and win the job, it will be interesting to see where the other one fits in.
