Recent Patriots rumors have been about the team reportedly engaging in trade talks with the San Francisco 49ers about right tackle Trent Brown.

With the NFL Draft in full swing, there have been plenty of Patriots rumors about who the Patriots were targetting in round one, and who they may be looking at in round two.

Surprisingly, the Patriots didn’t trade either of their first two picks in the first round. With the 23rd overall pick, the Patriots selected Isaiah Wynn from Georgia, and then they followed it up with another player from Georgia in Sony Michel.

The selection of Wynn to bolster the offensive line certainly made a lot of sense, as he can come in an compete for the starting left tackle spot. LaAdrian Waddle was the likely favorite to be the starter before the draft, but he hasn’t played on the left side in his career.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Patriots might not be done trying to address their offensive line. Reportedly, the Patriots and 49ers have engaged in trade talks for right tackle Trent Brown.

With the 49ers taking tackle Mike McGlinchey last night, Brown’s time with the 49ers is likely coming to an end. Due to some weight issues, the 49ers obviously thought that getting McGlinchley early in the draft was a necessary move for the franchise.

While he might have some weight issues, Brown is coming off a strong season with the 49ers. According to Pro Football Focus, Brown received an overall grade of 79.3 in 2017, which ranked him 21st among tackles, and also just one spot behind Tyron Smith of the Cowboys.

Brown did struggle as a run blocker last season, but he was a Top 10 pass blocker at right tackle, which is certainly important for the Patriots. If the price is right, the Patriots might take a shot on Brown as they look to continue to bolster their offensive line this offseason.
