After a strong first day, the New England Patriots will be back on the clock on Day 2 with a few needs.

With two picks in the first round of the NFL Draft, the New England Patriots were able to address some of their needs on Day 1. With their first pick, the Patriots upgraded their offensive line with the selection of Isaiah Wynn from Georgia.

Wynn was announced as a tackle at the draft, and that means that he will be competing for the starting left tackle spot in all likelihood. Even though he doesn’t have the typical size of a starting left tackle in the NFL, he was able to play the position really well for one of the best college teams in the NCAA last season.

With their second overall pick, the Patriots made a bit of a surprise selection when they took running back Sony Michel. Running back was a need for the Patriots after the loss of Dion Lewis is free agency, and they addressed it by getting one of the best running backs in the draft. Michel fits really nicely in the Patriots’ system and should thrive in New England.

On Day 2, the Patriots will have two picks in the second round to play with, as they can once again have a strong day. Since the Patriots took two offensive players in the first round, they will likely be addressing some of their needs on the defensive side of the ball on Friday night.

On Friday, the Patriots will likely be looking at three positions, as they could use a cornerback, linebacker, and a quarterback to groom as the heir to Brady. As of now, the Patriots have two picks in the second round and one in the third that can be used to address these needs. However, without a pick in the fourth or fifth rounds, the Patriots might trade one of these draft picks.
