Denver Broncos No. 5: NC State DE, Bradley Chubb

With the fifth overall pick and two quarterbacks still available, the Denver Broncos instead decided to improve their defense. Even though quarterback has been a need for the Broncos since Peyton Manning retired, they elected to pass on Josh Rosen and Josh Allen.

Instead of going with either of those two, the Broncos got the best rusher in the draft in Bradley Chubb. Many people believed that Chubb was one of the best prospects in the draft, and getting him with the fifth pick is good value for Denver.

Pairing Chubb with Von Miller creates one of the best pass-rushing duos in the NFL for years to come in Denver. When the Broncos have been successful in recent years, it has been because of their defense and their ability to get to the quarterback. Some of their big wins in recent years against the New England Patriots and Tom Brady, creating pressure has been key.

Depending on the develop of Paxton Lynch and the play of Case Keenum, this pick could be looked at in a few years for being a mistake. While quarterback could still be a problem for the Broncos, they will have one of the best pass-rushing duos in the league.
