Jacksonville Jaguars No. 29: Florida DT, Taven Bryan

For the first time in a long time, the Jacksonville Jaguars were on the clock with their own pick this late in the draft. In 2017, the Jaguars’ defense was able to help guide them to the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots. Even though they lost the game, the Jaguars put a scare into New England and proved that they are an up and coming team in the AFC.

With the 29th pick in the draft, the Jaguars added on to their talented defensive with the selection of Taven Bryan from Florida. Even though there wasn’t a glaring need for a defensive tackle, the Jaguars went with Bryan here to help bolster what was already one of the best defensive lines in the league last season.

After a good career at Florida, Bryan had the potential to be drafted earlier in the first round but fell a bit. For the Jaguars, they will be getting a talented defensive player that can add some depth to one of the best units in the league. Overall, Bryan is a good value pick by the Jaguars, who now have another talented young defender on their team. Since the Jaguars have a lot of expensive players on defense, Bryan will help provide some cap relief in the near future.
