Baltimore Ravens No. 25: South Carolina TE, Hayden Hurst

After some wheeling and dealing, the Ravens made the first of what ended up being two first-round picks at No. 25. The Ravens were a very solid team last season despite missing the playoffs, as they had one of the best defenses in the NFL. However, their offense was certainly one of the things that held them back, and they addressed that with the 25th overall pick.

Even though it isn’t common to see tight ends go in the first round, there were some really talented ones this season and the Ravens got the best in the class in Hayden Hurst from South Carolina.

Hurst is a beast at 6’5”, 250 lbs and he will be able to have an immediate impact on the Ravens’ offense. Due to Joe Flacco and the Ravens liking to run play action, having a good tight end is very important in those passing situations. With Hurst, he will be able to hurt defenses as a receiver, and will also be respected by them as a blocker. While he does have to work on his blocking technique a bit, the size is certainly there for him to succeed. With some good coaching at the position, Hurst can be a great tight end for years to come.
