Buffalo Bills No. 16: Virginia Tech LB, Tremaine Edmunds

The Buffalo Bills were very active on draft night. They came into the night with plenty of draft capital to make some moves, and make moves they did. Buffalo traded up to No. 7 to select quarterback, Josh Allen. They moved up a second time to the No. 16 spot.

The Bills acquired the 16th pick from the Baltimore Ravens, along with the 154th pick, in exchange for No. 22 and No. 65. With the 16th pick, the Bills selected Virginia Tech linebacker, Tremaine Edmunds.

Edmunds is a strong pick for Buffalo. He will be inserted into the starting lineup from Day 1, helping to fill the void left by Preston Brown, who led the NFL in tackles last season and signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency. Edmunds will bring some versatility to a Bills defense that is looking for an upgrade of talent at the end level.

Edmunds stuffed the stat sheet in 2017. He finished the season with 108 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three passes defended and three forced fumbles. Edmunds is a rangy defender that has shown an ability to rush the passer and stuff running lanes.

At only 19-years old, Edmunds is the youngest player in this year’s draft class. He has arguably the most tools of any player in this class to work with as well. This was a good selection by Buffalo, and they didn’t have to break the bank to move up and land him, either.
