IND No. 6 Overall Pick: Notre Dame OG, Quenton Nelson

The Indianapolis Colts moved back from the No. 3 spot, trading with the New York Jets. They moved three spots down but picked up three second-round picks in the process. Their general manager, Chris Ballard, said that the team could move back again.

We won’t have any hypothetical trades in this mock draft, so the Colts stick at the No. 6 spot for now. With the No. 6 pick, the Colts begin to shore up their offensive line with Notre Dame guard, Quenton Nelson.

Nelson graded out as one of the best offensive guards in recent draft history. He should slide right into the Colts’ starting lineup, giving them a much-needed upgrade along the offensive line. With franchise quarterback Andrew Luck struggling to remain healthy, improving the unit that protects him is a must.

Nelson was named MVP at Notre Dame in 2017. To put into perspective how impressive of a feat that is, Nelson is only the third offensive lineman in 97 years to take home the MVP.

The Colts have a long way to go to get back into prominence. Getting the offensive line in order, which will help keep Luck or Jacoby Brissett upright, is a good step in the right direction.
