New England Patriots: Full 2018 first round NFL mock draft
DEN No. 5 Overall Pick: UCLA QB, Josh Rosen
Due to a surprise in the Top 4 with the New York Giants passing on a quarterback, the Denver Broncos ended up in a great situation. Since Peyton Manning left Denver, the Broncos have been going in the wrong direction, and their offense has really struggled.
In recent years, one of the major issues for the Broncos has been at the quarterback position. The Broncos have tried multiple players to try and give them enough to go with their good defense, but it hasn’t resulted in much success.
This offseason, the Broncos signed Case Keenum to help them at the quarterback position. While Keenum played well for the Minnesota Vikings last season, there is no guarantee that he will be able to duplicate that with the Broncos. Also, he isn’t a great long-term option.
With the fifth pick, the Broncos will get a quarterback who can be the answer for years to come with the selection of Josh Rosen. After a good career at UCLA, Rosen appears ready for the NFL, but some other issues are concerning for franchises. With a good leader and potential mentor in John Elway, Rosen would be set up for success with the Broncos.
