NOLA No.27: Iowa C James Daniels

The New Orleans Saints had a great 2017 season, as they finished with an 11-5 record and looked like one of the best teams in the NFL. Unfortunately for the Saints, they suffered a heart-breaking loss in the playoffs to the Minnesota Vikings. The wild catch and run for a score by Stephon Diggs sent the Saints home, but they certainly had a great season.

As Drew Brees is getting older, the Saints have done a nice job transitioning a bit in recent years. With an improved defense and an improved running game, the Saints are one of the complete teams in the NFL now.

With the 27th overall pick, the Saints can look toward the future a bit with this pick. At 27, the Saints will be selecting center James Daniels from Iowa. Daniels has a ton of potential coming into the NFL and could be a Pro Bowl center one day. With Max Unger getting older, Daniels could be his replacement in the near future. Getting a player that has Pro Bowl upside this late in the first round would be a great addition to the Saints. As long as Daniels is able to add a little more size, he should be a starter in the NFL for years to come.
