BUF No. 22 Overall Pick: Louisville QB, Lamar Jackson

With the extra selection, the Bills now find their quarterback of the future. With the No. 22 selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Bills select Louisville quarterback, Lamar Jackson.

Jackson is one of the most polarizing prospects in this year’s draft class. Some people question whether he has the intangibles to develop into an NFL quarterback. He needs some refinement, as his technique and footwork need improvement. However, his production was through the roof.

Jackson completed 59.1 percent of his passes this past season, throwing for 3,660 yards and 27 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. His legs are his best weapon, as he ran for 1,601 yards and 18 touchdowns. Those numbers are actually worse than the numbers he put up in 2016 when he won the Heisman Trophy.

The production is there for Jackson to be a first-round pick. Where he lands will play a big part in if he can develop and turn into a starter at the next level. His athleticism will give him a shot to overcome some lack of fundamentals. At this point in the draft, he is worth taking a shot on.

Jackson will be afforded the chance to learn and develop in Buffalo, as well. The Bills acquired A.J. McCarron this offseason and he should be the starter out of the gate. Being able to develop for a little while is imperative for Jackson, who has some things to work on before he becomes a starting quality NFL quarterback.
