NYG No. 2 Overall Pick: NC State DE, Bradley Chubb

This is the selection where the draft really gets going. The New York Giants can go in a number of different directions. With a new regime in place, a potential franchise quarterback is intriguing. However, with Sam Darnold, the only quarterback the Giants reportedly like, off the board, we head in a different direction with arguably the best prospect in this draft in Bradley Chubb.

Chubb is far and away the highest rated defender in this draft, and for good reason. He was productive at NC State, taking home the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award, the Bronko Nagurski Award, Ted Hendricks Award and was a consensus All-American in 2017.

Chubb compiled 72 tackles, 23 tackles that went for a loss, with 10 sacks, two passes defended and one forced fumble. That made two consecutive seasons that Chubb registered over 20 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.

Chubb gives the Giants an immediate replacement for Jason Pierre-Paul, who was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Giants are lacking many pass rushing options beyond Olivier Vernon. They now have a second one with Chubb. Chubb should shine with the Giants despite the team moving away from their traditional 4-3 defense.
