DAL No.19: Alabama WR Calvin Ridley

It was a disappointing 2017 season for the Dallas Cowboys, as they missed the playoffs just one year after having one of the best records in the NFL. The suspension of Ezekiel Elliott really seemed to affect the team, as his battle with the NFL went on for far too long.

When Elliott was out, the Cowboys’ offense really suffered without arguably their best player. This offseason, the Cowboys decided to make some changes as they released Dez Bryant. Bryant has been one of the best wide receivers in the history of the franchise, but he wasn’t playing at the elite level that he was a few years ago.

With Bryant gone, there is a glaring need at the wide receiver position for the Cowboys, and they will address that with the 19th overall pick. At 19, the Cowboys will be selecting wide receiver Calvin Ridley from Alabama to be the replacement for Bryant.

Since the Cowboys have their young core in the backfield with Elliott and Dak Prescott, adding Ridley will set them up nicely for the foreseeable future. At more of a run-first school at Alabama, Ridley’s stats aren’t amazing, but he has all the tools needed to be a very good wide receiver in the NFL.
